In Beyonce’s recent interview with Marie Claire magazine she talks about her pop star status. She says,
‘Being a pop star, yes,’ she responds. ‘Being a legend, an icon, absolutely not. And, at this point, that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m over being a pop star. I don’t wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. I feel like I’m highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough.’
She says that her off-stage persona is very different from her on-stage persona. ‘I’ve created an alter ego [she refers to her on-stage persona as ‘Sasha’]: things I do when performing I would never do normally. I reveal things about myself that I wouldn’t do in an interview. I have out-of-body experiences [on stage]. If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don’t even feel it. I’m so fearless, I’m not aware of my face or my body.’ So, when she sang, “I can have another you in a minute. Matter fact, he’ll be here in a minute”, in hit song Irreplaceable, was she referring to Jay-Z? ‘I’m sure people think I wrote it about [Jay-Z] or something, but… the obvious person is not the person at all.’
She also thinks that she’s done her part as a black woman to pave the way for others.
‘I am really proud that I am one of the artists that has the opportunity to be on magazine covers and to be in the movies. And I do think that I’m opening doors for more black women, just like Halle [Berry] and Diana Ross opened doors for me.’ Source
As nutty as the whole Knowles clan is I always try to give much respect to their work ethic. Beyonce stands stories above the rest of fly by night stars.

Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Fergie are teaming up with some other big name ladies to lend their vocals to a track called “Just Stand Up”. The sales of the track will benefit the Stand Up to Cancer campaign. The song, produced by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio “
L.A.” Reid will be available exclusively on iTunes beginning September 2.
There will also be a “Just Stand Up” special airing commercial-free on CBS and hosted by Katie Curic, Charles Gibson, and Brian Williams that will include appearances by stars like Christina Applegate, America Ferrerea, Selma Hayek, etc. Source
I have this weird obsession with songs that include a host of artists like “We are the World” and such. My favorite HAS to be the song “Freedom” for the movie “Panther”.

The
NY Daily News is reporting that Beyonce is retiring:
“The diva is currently working on a new album, but her cousin Angelica Knowles tells our source that it will be her last. Instead, Beyonce plans to spend her days scouting talent for new hubby Jay-Z’s upcoming label, The Carter Music Group.
Beyonce’s first protege is rumored to be an R&B artist named Chelsea Thomas. Her reps couldn’t be reached for comment.”

Who the hell is Angelica? I bet it’s just Kelly runnin around spreading rumors under an alias. Beyonce can’t quit! If she does we’ll have to rely on fantasia for all our sweaty cooter pics.
No Beyonce…you must perform til your old and grey. I can’t imagine living out the rest of my years and missing out on all of this…

The Foo Fighters won’t be the only ones crossing the picket lines to perform at the Grammys. Beyonce has announced that she’s going to perform as well. Other performers like JT, Fiddy, and Bon Jovi are vowing to NOT cross picket lines in support of the WGA. The show’s organizers say that it will go on even though writers are threatening to protest the event.

Hmm, I’m not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand we want to support the writers (or at least I do) in their quest. But on the other hand folks gotta work. I don’t know man, this strike is really messin wit’ my TV lineup. Hey there Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers! How bout you give them what they want and stop dickin’ around! These poor people deserve a fair deal. Many of them are now homeless for Pete’s sake. Oh, and of course there is the aforementioned crinkle in my boob tube shed-jule. Thanks!
